  • Zach voted for the Working Families Tax Cuts (H.R. 1 – One Big Beautiful Bill Act), which was signed into law on July 4, 2025.
    • Child Tax Credit raised to $2,200, made permanent, and indexed for inflation beginning in 2026.
    • No Tax on Tips: deduction of up to $25,000 for tax years 2025–2028.
    • No Tax on Overtime: deduction of up to $12,500 ($25,000 for joint filers) on the premium portion for tax years 2025–2028.

    • Adoption Tax Credit made refundable up to $5,000 and indexed to inflation. This provision was based on Zach’s own Fight for Families Act (H.R. 2153), which he led and successfully got incorporated into the law.
    • $1,000 for every newborn through Trump Accounts.
    • Iowa impact: an average tax cut of $3,130 per Iowa taxpayer in 2026, according to the Tax Foundation.
    • Nationally, the average tax refund reached $3,571 this filing season — up roughly 10% year over year, according to the IRS.

  • Zach secured $209 million in rural health care funding for Iowa through the Rural Health Transformation Program, helping expand telehealth, strengthen emergency care, and keep care close to home for Iowa families.
  • Zach introduced the bipartisan HEALTH for MOM Act to improve maternal health care support across Iowa, especially for low-income women on Medicaid.
  • Zach voted for the bipartisan Lower Costs, More Transparency Act to lower prescription drug prices for Iowans. 
  • Zach helped introduce the Drug-Price Transparency for Consumers Act to ensure transparency in the costs for drugs.

Zach is fighting for Iowa’s farmers and families in Congress. He voted against cuts that would hurt Iowa’s farmers and championed the programs they rely on. As a member of the Agriculture Committee, he’s hosted dozens of open forums on the Farm Bill to ensure Iowans have a voice at the negotiation table. He will always fight for Iowa’s farmers and producers:

  • Zach proudly voted to send the Farm Bill to the House floor for a vote, and was able to secure 17 different bills included in the package.
  • Zach voted against drastic and harmful cuts to programs that Iowa farmers rely on to feed and fuel the country. 
  • Zach secured an extension for critical farm programs to support Iowa’s farmers and rural communities.
  • As a member of the Agriculture Committee, Zach has hosted more than 20 open forums in Iowa to inform his priorities for the Farm Bill.
  • Zach introduced the Reconnecting Rural America Act to improve rural broadband infrastructure nationwide.
  • Zach cosponsored legislation to protect Iowa farmers from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
  • Zach sent a letter to the EPA to implement year-round E-15, and cosponsored legislation to support E-15 use in vehicles nationwide.
  • Zach introduced the Increasing Land Access, Security and Opportunities Act to support young farmers.
  • California shouldn’t have a say in how we farm in Iowa. In response to Proposition 12, Zach cosponsored the Ending Agricultural Trade Suppression (EATS) Act which prevents states from regulating agricultural practices nationwide.
  • Zach introduced the bipartisan Protecting Farmers from Natural Disasters Act to aid farmers recovering from crop loss due to flooding and other natural disasters.
  • Zach helped pass year-round, nationwide E15 (H.R. 1346) through the House on May 13, 2026. E15 typically costs 20 to 40 cents less per gallon than E10 and is EPA-approved for more than 95% of vehicles on the road. The legislation is currently awaiting Senate action.
  • On October 27, 2025, Zach joined Sen. Joni Ernst and Rep. Derrick Van Orden in urging the administration to suspend or eliminate retaliatory tariffs on soybeans while also pressing for certainty around the 45Z tax credit and year-round E15.

As a sixth generation Iowan, Zach considers it a privilege to serve our community in Congress. He is focused on bringing Iowa common sense to the nation’s capital. Throughout his first term, he has prioritized hearing directly from Iowans on how to better serve our community:

  • Since being sworn in, Zach has completed 4 tours of all 21 counties in the Iowa Third Congressional District. 
  • He’s hosted more than 200 events, including dozens of open forums, throughout each of the 21 counties in the Third District.
  • Zach has helped more than 1,000 Iowans cut through red tape at federal agencies to access their benefits.
  • The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act (H.R. 6644) became law on July 11, 2026. Section 503 of the law is Zach’s Rural Housing Service Reform Act, which preserves affordable rental housing for rural families.
    • The broader package also blocks large institutional investors from buying up single-family homes and repeals the federal “permanent chassis” mandate, which is estimated to reduce the cost of a new manufactured home by $5,000 to $10,000.
